I loved that story. to be honest, I have read most of Sloane's books (apart from M\M\M, which is not my thing). so why have I given two stars? simply, because it's like all the other books in this series.you can read all the other books and it would be the same, and it kind of upset me. while I love reading it, it was too predictable, too familiar.like, there's always an age difference between the two main characters.there's always some kind of trauma related to sexual things (rape, abduction, abuse).there's always the rich and the poor.that's the basics, so I think that even though it's a nice book, and I had enjoyed reading it, I must say that there's nothing new in this. some of the lines in the book appear in some other books as well. the writing and the plot are just too similar, and there's nothing new or exciting that got me to glow to the book. I figured it would be an easy read, seeing that this was Book 1, the start of a series. I fell in a trap. There seemed to be a cast of dozens who i had no clue about, with backgrounds i couldnt fathom, and past happenings that confused me. It seems a great many characters were carry-overs from some other series that i hadnt read, and didnt know about. There was just enough information about past doings of these characters to whet my whistle for further information that i never got. From maybe the book's halfway point, i just skipped reading about the supporting cast and concentrated on the main two characters and their immediate problems.Lucas, the concerned father to an abducted son, and Remy, an ex-abductee, weren't all that emotional toward each other.There's no doubt the author knows the rules of grammar, dialogue, transitions.I'm not condemning the author's writing, but i couldn't have cared less about the carry-over characters. Of course, people who have read the previous series would be extremely happy for familiar faces to turn up in print.
